NEW HERA

The Erasmus+ NEW HERA project was born in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis, which highlighted the need to improve thedigital and pedagogical skills of trainers.

Presentation
\"\"

The project NEW HERA co-funded by the European Union as part of the Erasmus + programme proposes to train vocational training trainers and teachers in order to create a more effective digital Europe.

The NEW HERA project was born during the COVID 19 health crisis, which highlighted the need to improve the digital and pedagogical skills of trainers and teachers to better communicate, evaluate and design distance learning courses using innovative digital tools on a daily basis.

To achieve this, the project leader GIP FIPAN and its Belgian, Cypriot and Italian partners are working together to enrich the online learning experience for trainees by offering attractive content and innovative assessments, grouped together and made available to all, via a toolbox available on the NEW HERA platform.

Trainer training sessions are being organised in the project's partner countries, enabling not only the development of trainers' digital skills in these tools but also the sharing of European best practice in the field of digital training.

Towards excellence in online vocational education and training
\"\"

Starting in November 2021, the main aim of the NEW HERA project was to improve and strengthen the skills of vocational education and training (VET) trainers and teachers so that they can better assess and communicate with their students through existing e-learning platforms, transforming face-to-face training programmes into high-quality e-VET programmes.

Over a 28-month period, the consortium worked around the following objectives:

  • To increase and improve the knowledge of VET teachers and trainers with regard to training programme planning, evaluation methods, improving the quality standards and effectiveness of VET online courses and plans
  • Enriching the online learning experience of VET trainees and students by providing them with engaging content, assessments and real-life experiences in their e-learning programmes
  • Improve the management of VET organisations by providing them with tools for better internal organisation and resource management
.
Target groups and project beneficiaries
  • VET trainers and teachers from partner organisations and/or territories

They make up the main target group of the project. They had the opportunity to improve or acquire skills in the use of digital tools for training planning, online assessment procedures, content design and mediatisation. They were able to learn about the differences between traditional face-to-face training and e-learning methods. As a result, they have been prepared to transform their courses into interactive training that students can understand better.

  • Trainers for VET teachers and trainers

This target group also benefits from the project results. They have at their disposal a toolbox containing excellent pedagogical tools which they can adapt to the different specificities of VET and LMS platforms.

  • Tutors (mentors) of apprentices in companies

Tutors in companies offer apprentices the opportunity to learn directly through experience. They are the first to be at their side during their first professional experiences. Although some of this experience can, in some cases, only be gained face-to-face, much of it can be turned into tutorials, interactive manuals, virtual tours and other interesting tools that mentors can learn to master.

  • Students and trainees in VET

They will also benefit from the results of the NEW HERA project because they will be able to use the online training developed by the teachers. A clearer and more effective transmission of knowledge will enable students to be better trained and prepared for their professional future.

  • LMS platform developers

LMS platform developers are able to better understand the needs of VET teachers and trainers in order to adapt LMS platform structures to these requirements, thus improving the e-learning experience.
