The Level IV Boilermaking, Piping and Metal Structures Design Technician vocational qualification1 consists of two typical activities, with each typical activity comprising the skills required to carry it out. Each type of activity corresponds to a vocational skills certificate (CCP).
On the basis of specifications or instructions, the technician designs boiler works (balloons, storage equipment, fine sheet metal work, mechanical welding), piping installations (routing, support, isometric drawings) or metal structures (floors, staircases, railings). They model projects in 2D and 3D using CAD/CAM software and then produce assembly and detail drawings for use in manufacturing and assembling metal assemblies. The technician prepares the manufacturing file (cutting sheets, tracing the development of parts, nesting of parts, etc.). They take part in costing manufacturing projects and visit sites to take measurements. They help to organise and optimise production and monitor it. They draw up plans, taking into account economic criteria in terms of materials, design and manufacturing times. They take into account respect for the environment, the safety of goods and people, and the basic rules of design when studying structures. It complies with the company's construction codes, standards and norms.
A Professional Skills Certificate corresponds to each typical activity.
The two Certificats de Compétences Professionnelles (CCP) that make up the professional qualification are:
CCP 1 - Carry out the design of metal assemblies using software CAD/CAD 2D and 3D
CCP 2 -. Produce the preparation file and contribute to the organisation of the manufacture of metal assemblies
