 Professional qualification: Medical and Social Assistant Secretary

On completion of the course, the holder of this qualification will be able to work in health, medico-social or social facilities, receiving and caring for patients and users, planning the department's activities, processing and monitoring administrative files, coordinating operations linked to patient or user care.

They will be able to carry out a variety of tasks related to the medical, medico-social or social fields: admissions, socio-administrative information, entering procedures and services, invoicing, entering medical or operative reports, with a degree of autonomy and responsibility that varies according to the context.


Certificate of skills 1:Assist a team in communicating information and organising activities
Produce routine professional documents
Communicate information in writing
Ensure traceability and storage of information
Welcome a visitor and pass on information orally
Plan and organise team activities


Certificate of skills 2: Assuring the reception and administrative management of the patient or user
Instructing and directing the public in a health, medico-social or social service
Planning and managing appointments for patients or users
Assuring the medico-administrative and social management of the patient or user


Certificate of competence 3: Processing files and coordinating operations related to the patient or user pathway
Retranscribing medical or social information
Supervising and updating patient or user files
Coordinating operations related to the patient or user pathway

Developing and updating monitoring tables in a health, medico-social or social service.


Transversal skills:

Communicating while respecting confidentiality
Working in a multidisciplinary team and relaying information
Be involved in a service relationship and manage difficult situations
Adapt your practice to technological developments in communication tools and the dematerialisation of information


  • Professional qualification from the Ministry of Labour Level 4 (Baccalauréat, BP, BT)

Maximum total duration of 1,250 hours, including 350 hours in a company and 900 hours at the training centre.
The duration of the course is indicative and will be determined according to your profile.

You will be able to approach different sectors of activity: the public, semi-public or private sector, in the health, social and medico-social environments (hospitals, clinics, doctors' surgeries, medical imaging centres, regional, departmental and communal services for health and social action, Establishments of Accommodation for Dependent Elderly People (EHPAD), occupational medicine centres, accommodation centres for people in difficulty, mutual aid and rescue associations, etc.).
You will be able to carry out the jobs of: Medical secretary, medico-social secretary
In the civil service (hospital or local authority), permanent access to the job is subject to competition.
With experience, the medico-social secretary-assistant can progress to the position of medical secretariat manager or medical information technician (TIM).
In the associative (social) sector, the medico-social secretary can progress to the position of executive assistant.
