In a machine shop, based on a manufacturing file and instructions from their line manager, computer-assisted machining set-up operators set up and operate numerically controlled machine tools (NCMTs) to mass-produce parts, mainly made of metal or other materials such as plastics or composites.

The main objectives of the course are:

  • Conduct production of stabilised series on a numerically controlled lathe
  • Conduct production of stabilised series on a machining centre
  • Set up a numerically controlled lathe to produce stabilised series of parts
  • Set up a machining centre to produce stabilised series of parts

Integration period. Welcome, presentation of training objectives, knowledge of the professional environment, awareness of sustainable development, adaptation of the training path

The machining operator vocational qualification is made up of four typical activities, with each typical activity comprising the skills required to perform it. Each typical activity corresponds to a certificate of professional competence (CCP). Run a stabilised production run on a machining centre

  • Produce a series of parts on a machining centre in accordance with procedures
  • Restart production following a change of milling tool on a machining centre
  • Check and trace the production of parts

CCP - Set up a numerically controlled lathe to produce stable series of parts

  • Prepare off-machine, all the elements required to set up production on a numerically controlled lathe
  • Set up a numerically controlled lathe to produce a new series of parts from a stabilised manufacturing file
  • Check the parts produced to validate the pre-series

CCP - Set up a machining centre to produce stabilised series of parts

  • Prepare off-machine, all the elements required for setting up production on a machining centre
  • Set up a machining centre to produce a new series of parts from a stabilised manufacturing file
  • Check the parts produced to validate the pre-series
