Professional qualification: Body Repairer

At the end of his training the professional will be able to:

- restore light vehicles or light commercial vehicles that have been involved in an accident to their original shape.

- ensure, depending on the severity of the damage, the repair or replacement of damaged bodywork components, accessories and equipment;

- carry out minor repairs: dent removal, changing a non-welded component, but also more extensive repairs affecting the superstructure: welded bodywork components as well as the infrastructure: underbody.

- removing and fitting body accessories and equipment: glazing, bumpers, lights, trim, etc.

- adjusting clearances and mechanisms (window regulators, locks and strikers, etc.) and finishing the
vehicle (fitting trim and various ornaments, putting safety and driving aid devices back into service, preparing and cleaning for delivery).

- work as part of a team: team leader, other bodybuilders, painters and occasionally mechanics.

- adopt appropriate behaviour during occasional visits to the workshop by customers and insurance experts.

Skill block 1. Perform bodywork operations on removable components/equipment/accessories and glazing on light vehicles

• Perform removal/replacement/adjustment operations on bodywork components/equipment/accessories
• Perform repair and replacement operations on glazing on light vehicles
• Prepare repaired light vehicles for delivery using a professional renovation method

Skill block 2. Repairing light vehicle superstructures

• Applying and sanding trim sealants to repaired bodywork components
• Repairing automotive plastics in accordance with manufacturers' methods
• Repairing, straightening damaged light vehicle bodywork components
• Replacing fixed light vehicle superstructure components

Skill block 3. Repair light vehicle infrastructure

• Perform dimensional checks on the underpinnings of crashed light vehicles
• Repair crashed light vehicles underpinnings

Transversal skills of the job

• Implementing operating procedures
• Applying hygiene, safety and health protection rules at work
• Manipulating and manoeuvring tools and equipment with dexterity

• Professional qualification from the Ministry of Labour Level 3 (CAP)

- automotive services: manufacturers' after-sales networks (branches / subsidiaries /
dealerships / agencies), independent body repairers and some independent garages.

- certain companies or government departments with integrated body
and paint repair workshops (armed forces, ministries, public or private transport companies).
