The BIM Modeller is in charge of modelling the digital mock-up of a construction project for one or more trades.
In the context of a level 1 BIM project (construction or small-scale refurbishment such as a detached house) , each participant works in 3D for their own needs, the professional models the digital mock-up to finalise the building project, present it to their client and produce the planning permission file.
In the context of a larger project, involving a project management team (architects, design offices, BIM manager and BIM coordinator, etc.), the professional will need to familiarise himself with the BIM convention in order to organise his digital mock-up so that it is compatible and interoperable with all the mock-ups in the project. In the case of a refurbishment project, they can carry out a survey of the existing situation and draw up a descriptive note of the state of the premises.
In the consultation and works preparation phase, they carry out the technical fine-tuning of the project, summarising the plans of the various trades.
The objectives of the BIM building modeller training course are:
to train a professional in the multiple interventions required throughout the project design phase to modify the digital model in line with technical or architectural developments
to know how to complete the model with the characteristics and performance of the structures that will be communicated to him by the economists, engineers or architects
know how to organise the tree structure and files of their digital mock-up upstream in accordance with the project's BIM convention or their company's own organisation, as the case may be
know how to extract information from the mock-up to provide project quantity surveys, for example.
The two Certificates of Professional Competence (CCP) that make up the professional qualification are:
CCP - Model a level 1 BIM project (isolated digital mock-up)
Model the project using 3D software
Establish the survey and description of an existing building
Establish the building project's compliance with standards and regulations
Complete the bill of quantities for a building project based on 2D plans or a digital mock-up
Prepare the application file for planning permission based on a digital mock-up
CCP - Modelling a level 2 BIM project (collaborative digital mock-up)
Organising the project in accordance with the BIM convention
Modelling the project using 3D software
Establishing the building project's compliance with standards and regulations
Drawing the detail books for a construction project
Summarising the technical and architectural plans in BIM
