 Professional qualification: After-sales expert technician for commercial and industrial vehicles

Upon completion of the training, the Expert After-Sales Technician for Commercial and Industrial Vehicles will be able to carry out the following tasks:

Technical tasks:

  • All preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on vehicles, covering:

- Internal combustion engines and peripheral equipment,

- Mechanical assemblies,

- Electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic and optical systems ensuring the vehicle’s drivability, comfort and safety.

  • Fitting of accessories to vehicles.

- Carrying out diagnostics,

- Carrying out checks, adjustments and tests.

Organisation and management of maintenance:

  • Organisation of maintenance:

In liaison with the manufacturer’s and/or equipment supplier’s departments: receiving and transmitting technical information,

Updating and filing technical documentation,

Planning maintenance work,

Organising and maintaining the workstation and tools,

Applying the company’s current quality procedures.

  • Maintenance management:

Providing technical and operational advice to customers,

Drawing up all relevant workshop documentation,

Preparing quotations, work orders, etc.,

Occasional involvement, acting as a stand-in for the receptionist, in customer reception and vehicle handover procedures.

  • Technical training role:

Delivering technical training sessions for after-sales service staff,

Helping to draw up the company’s training plan / mentoring young people on work-study programmes,

Providing technical support to after-sales service staff.

Key responsibilities:

Identifying preventive maintenance processes,

Maintenance and repair of components and equipment,

Work on electric and specialised vehicles, or on any gas systems or equipment requiring authorisation or a certificate of competence (e.g. speed limiter),

Work on comfort and convenience systems, as well as on the electronic and hydraulic systems of vehicle-related devices (doors, ticketing systems, communication tools, etc.): buses / coaches.


A Vocational Qualification is a certification issued by the industry, attesting to the acquisition of the professional skills required to carry out a job corresponding to an industry qualification.


The course is organised into several skill modules, allowing for step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions to encourage hands-on, progressive learning.

BC01 - Diagnosis and maintenance of components, equipment and accessories for commercial and industrial vehicles

BC02 - Diagnosis and restoration to compliance of injection and emission control systems for commercial and industrial vehicles (including all gas systems)

BC03 - Diagnosis and restoration to compliance of electrical and multiplexed circuits in commercial and industrial vehicles

BC04 - Diagnosis and maintenance of mechanical systems in commercial and industrial vehicles

BC05 - Diagnosis and restoration to compliance of powertrain components in electric or hybrid commercial and industrial vehicles

BC06 - Customer advice and reception for commercial and industrial vehicles

BC07 - Transfer of technical skills and knowledge

Throughout the course, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor the learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables learners to develop their professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learning in conditions that closely resemble the real-world workplace.


  • Professional qualification awarded by the CPNE for automotive services Level 5

Technological or vocational A-level qualification, preferably a vocational A-level in Motor Vehicle Maintenance – option VI or VP – or significant experience in the field.

To be accepted onto the training programme, candidates must pass aptitude and motivation tests.

To work as an expert commercial and industrial vehicle after-sales technician in companies that sell, maintain and repair commercial vehicles, lorries, buses and coaches on behalf of professional customers from the road haulage, construction and public transport sectors, coach operators or local authorities. The business is conducted in companies belonging to the manufacturers' networks (dealers and agents), in HGV garages affiliated to a network of stockist distributors or in independent garages without a brand name.
