Pre-qualification for building and eco-construction trades

To enable trainees to discover the building and public works and eco-construction sector, acquire basic skills and develop behavioural know-how in the building and public works trades.

People who have completed this course will be able to join a Level V qualifying course or move directly into an unskilled job in the building and public works and eco-construction sector.

The modules offered will provide an insight into the professional activities detailed below:
Module 1: Communication, mathematics, information technology and applied job search techniques
Module 2: Building and civil engineering trades: bricklaying, banches, roofing
Module 3: Cladding: Plaster and plasterboard, tiling, painting, wallpapering
Module 4: Plumbing - Electricity: setting up a hot water, cold water installation -Welding - Electricity basics - Wiring - Ducts and conduits
Module 5: Reading plans adapted to each trade
Module 6: Safety: raising awareness of the risks inherent in each trade and the measures to be taken to limit these risks.

Module 7: Construction site school: two to three periods will be spent on a multi-purpose construction site, supervised by a professional. These workcamps will enable all the previous modules to be applied.
Module 8: Discovery of eco-construction.
Current energy context, eco-construction issues, eco-construction, existing buildings, rehabilitation and local players.

Citizenship will be approached in a cross-disciplinary manner.
