The training provides the following professional skills:

- Knowing the needs in terms of nutrition/feeding of infants and young children

- Setting up favourable conditions for infants and young children to feed themselves as well as possible

- Mastering hygiene and safety rules in relation to feeding in collective structures

- Making simple preparations

- Preparing the service of meals and snacks

- Storing, preparing and preserving foodstuffs.


Food requirements of infants and children

- Nutritional requirements of children and recommended nutrient intakes

- Nutritional sources: foods

- Evolution of the diet through the introduction of new foods

- Characteristics of the digestive system of infants and young children

- Children's diets

- Knowledge of the different infant milks and dietary diversification

Rules of hygiene and safety

- Rules for preparing and preserving feeding bottles and meals

- Cleaning and sterilising equipment

- Choice and use of preservation equipment

- Preparation of fruit and vegetables

- Use of preserved foodstuffs

- Different types of cooking

- Choice and use of storage and rethermalization equipment

- Rethermalization, suitable equipment and compliance with procedures

- Food contamination

Place of food in child development

- Child nutrition education

- Favourable conditions for taking bottles and meals

- Stimulating children to develop their tastes and potential.
