EARLY CHILDHOOD - Welcoming a disabled child

The professional skills to be acquired during the course are as follows:

-Apprehend the problems and issues involved in welcoming a child with a disability in early childhood facilities or at home

-Welcome a child with a disability, whatever the disability

-Be able to assess the child's needs and potential, adapting and designing the care (project, space, equipment, training, posture)

-Acquiring the skills to support the disabled child within the group

-Organising your home: The conditions and organisation required to make this reception a success

-Communicate with parents and team members about the child's specific needs.

- The various disabilities, progressive pathologies and the physiological, psychological and behavioural consequences in everyday life

- The affective and emotional aspects for the professional, the other children cared for, his/her own children

- Specific early-learning activities

- Specific safety rules

- The role of other professionals (educators, speech therapists, physiotherapists, teachers, )

- Passing on and seeking information on the child's progress.
