The TOSA certification is divided into 4 skill areas: Interface and workspace, Text, Images and graphic objects, Printing and automation, The scores achieved will validate a level (operational, advanced or expert). Depending on the level, additional skills will enhance the mastery of the previous level, to lighten the reading only the most + will be scored.

Operational between 551 and 725 pts

• Mastering the use of InDesign in the graphics chain, creating, modifying new documents, identifying panels and tools, keyboard shortcuts for display; saving the file, a workspace. Setting up automatic pagination in templates; unlocking an object; locating a section mark in the Pages panel; creating markers and changing the number of columns; setting up a basic line grid; the different image formats; transition effects, animations, scrolling slides, presenter mode.
• Know the RGB and CMYK modes; use the tools to choose your shade, import images in plates with or without dynamic captions; re-edit or update a link; remove the white background from an imported photo; identify the image resolution and edit it; manage layers; align frames using a key object; set rounded corners; place a text frame on a dressed frame; differentiating between image adjustment icons
• Printing a document as a plate and saving a predefined printout; knowing the paragraph and character styles and finding replacements in the style panel; setting cascading styles; creating table styles; adapting your page layout.

Advanced between 726 and 875 pts

• Make perfect use of palettes, tools, menus and keyboard shortcuts. Perfectly manage a long document with automatic pagination; create different templates (parents, children), create markers and change the number of columns, margins; the different image formats, set up a base line grid; save defined parameters; retrieve styles; the different export formats
• + set up footnotes; underlining and paragraph indentation; set hyphenation parameters, add columns, margins; master the search and replace function; converting table rows into body or foot rows
• + updating imported images and using Pathfinder
• + anchoring a block, setting up a table of contents

Expert between 876 and 1000 pts

• + managing text wrapping
• + editor mode
• + activating a Photoshop trace, layer options, various pastes
• + inserting a text variable, creating object styles
