Mastering professional writing

At the end of their training course, learners will be able to:

• Structure his/her writing according to the objective (inform, convince, report).
• Adapt their level of language and tone to their interlocutor.
• Master the specific codes of each medium (e-mail, minutes, memos, reports)
• Optimise the legibility and layout of your documents.
• Apply the essential rules of grammar and spelling.

The course is made up of several modules:

1: Fundamentals and Strategy

• Launch : The challenges of writing (credibility, clarity, legal trail).
• Methodology : Defining your objective and plan before writing.
• Digital writing: Specificities of e-mail (subject, structure, polite formulas).

2: Structure and Style

• Module 1 : Typical outlines (chronological, thematic, cause/consequence).
• Module 2 : The inverted pyramid: giving essential information straight away.
• Module 3: Lighten your style: eliminate jargon, use the active voice and short sentences.

3: Support and Practice

• Module 4: Making a success of your minutes: from the statement of decisions to the minutes.
• Module 5 : The summary note: extracting the essentials from a complex file.
• Module 6 : Spelling and syntax: common pitfalls in business.

4 : Rewriting workshop & Assessment "Before/After" workshop : Transforming complex texts into clear, punchy versions.

• Group review : Caring feedback on trainees' productions.
• Assessment: Final quiz and timed writing exercise.
