Developing relational databases with ACCESS (TOSA certification)

Deepen the notions of querying and exploiting a database and validate the TOSA certification.

This certification offers more complex learning linked to the progression of levels broken down into three skill areas:

• Operational (TOSA from 551 to 725 points), Advanced (TOSA from 726 to 875 points), or Expert (TOSA from 876 to 1000 points) levels give access to certification

• Initial level (TOSA from 1 to 350 points) and Basic level (TOSA from 351 to 550 points ), give rise to a certificate of prior learning at the end of the course.

3 skill areas:

Tables & Queries

• Initial level: Opening a table, entering and sorting data.

• Basic level: Understanding databases (tables, fields, records), distinguishing between Creation/Datasheet modes, entering data, creating simple queries.

• Operational level: Creating simple tables, fields and relationships, sorting/filtering, selection and action queries.

• Advanced level: Creating a database from scratch, importing Excel data, managing advanced fields (masks, compound primary keys), complex queries with joins and SQL.

• Expert level: Mastering multi-source import/export, separating bases (front/back), creating complex queries, pivot tables, advanced SQL.

Forms & Reports

• Initial level: Opening a form, entering data, printing a report.

• Basic level: Displaying, modifying data, navigating between records.

• Operational level: Creating simple forms with or without a wizard, customising the display and controls, adding graphic objects, modifying the layout (Creation , page).

• Advanced level : Create elaborate forms with graphic tools, dual display, all types of controls, advanced customisation.

• Expert level : Complete mastery of controls, SQL statements in forms, report groupings, advanced statistical calculations.

Macros & VBA

• Initial level : Using ready-made macros or VBA modules.

• Basic level : Identifying macros and the role of VBA.

• Operational level: Create simple macros, insert buttons, read/modify basic code, display the VBA environment (VBE).

Advanced level: Create simple VBA macros and procedures, recognise syntax concepts, use arithmetic operators and With/End With blocks, conditions, loops, manage triggers and custom menus.

• Expert level : Mastery of VBA, use of all types of variables, events, debugging tools, dialogue boxes, independent forms, conditional actions via macros.
