Acquire the qualification to develop the following professional skills:

  • Accompanying and caring for children in their activities of daily living and social life by identifying frailties
  • Assessing the clinical condition of the person and implementing appropriate care in collaboration with the nurse by integrating quality and risk prevention
  • Informing and accompanying people and their entourage, professionals and learners
  • Assuring the upkeep of the person's immediate environment and materials related to care activities, the place and situations of intervention
  • Transmitting, whatever the means and methods of communication, the observations made in order to maintain continuity of care and activities

As a health professional, the childcare assistant is authorised to provide early-learning and educational activities and to carry out hygiene and comfort care in order to preserve and restore continuity of life, the child's well-being and autonomy, within the framework of the nurse's own role and the specific acts defined as a priority for the nursery nurse, in collaboration and as part of a shared responsibility.

Three missions reflecting the specific nature of the profession are thus defined:

1. Accompany the child in activities of daily and social living;

2. Collaborate in the personalised care project within his/her field of expertise;

3. Contribute to risk prevention and interprofessional clinical reasoning.

Theoretical training of 770 hours (22 weeks) is broken down into 10 modules:

Module 1 Accompanying the child in activities of daily and social life

Module 1bis Early-learning, leisure activities, education and support in social life

Module 2 Identification and prevention of risk situations Block 2 - Assessment of the clinical state and implementation of adapted care in collaboration 3- Assessing the clinical state of a person at any age of life to adapt their care

Module 3 Assessment of the clinical state

Module 4 Implementation of adapted care, assessment and readjustment

Module 5 Supporting the mobility of the person being cared for

Module 6 Relating to and communicating with people and their entourage

Module 7 Supporting people in training and communicating with peers

Module 8 Maintaining premises and equipment and preventing associated risks

Module 9 Processing information

Module 10 Working in a multi-professional team, quality and risk management

Learner support is based on three intervention methods:

  • Individualised pedagogical support (API): 35h (in the first three months of training)
  • Individualised pedagogical monitoring of learners: 7h (spread throughout the training)
  • Guided personal work (TPG): 35 h (spread within the different modules)

The clinical training lasting 770 hours (i.e. 22 weeks of 35 hours) breaks down as follows:

Four periods in a professional environment must be completed:

Period A of 5 weeks

Period B of 5 weeks

Period C of 5 weeks

Period D of 7 weeks: at the end of the training, an integrative period in a professional environment, corresponding to the professional project and/or enabling skills to be reinforced in order to validate all the skill blocks


  • Diploma from the Ministry of Health Level 4 (Baccalauréat, BP, BT)

Maximum total duration of 1,120 hours, including 350 hours in a company and 770 hours at the training centre.
The duration of the course is indicative and will be determined according to your profile.
