 CQP Medical Assistant

At the end of his/her training, the holder of the CQP Medical Assistant will be able to assist a private practitioner, general practitioner or specialist in the management of patient pathways and files and in actions linked to the preparation and conduct of the consultation:

  • receiving and taking charge of patients,
  • coordinating the planning of department activities,
  • processing and monitoring administrative files,
  • coordinating operations related to patient pathways.
  • by managing the risk of contamination and implementing health safety procedures
  • by preparing patients for medical examinations and assisting the practitioner during these examinations
  • by mastering communication and information sharing tools as well as software packages specific to the activity

The medical assistant carries out his/her activity in a medical practice under the authority of a practitioner in compliance with the procedures and regulations in force, within the strict scope of his/her initiatives and using terminology and techniques specific to the sector.

The duration of the course is indicative and will be determined according to your profile.

  • Holder of a level 4 or holder of the baccalaureate
  • Jobseekers with no experience in the health sector but with a level 4
  • Holder medical secretary or if certification not validated have 1 year's professional experience as a medical secretary
  • Certified dental assistant
  • People with a diploma as a nursing auxiliary, nursery auxiliary or nurse are authorised to work as a medical assistant.A job adaptation training course (FAE) in the field of organisation and administrative management of a medical practice is required for medical assistants who do not hold the CQP within three years of taking up their post (Order of 7 November 2019 relating to the exercise of the function of medical assistant). The three categories of professions listed in the Order of 7 November 2019 are not eligible for exemptions.

Validation of all the skill blocks and the attestation of training in emergency first aid (AFGSU Level I) are required in order to obtain certification.

In the event of partial validation of the certification, the validity of the modules obtained is permanent.

Skill block 1 - Follow-up of the patient's healthcare pathway:

1/ Professional simulation (oral test) focusing on the complete course of an examination or care and the specific precautions to be taken

2/written quiz (MCQ type) of 10 questions focusing on different care or examinations and complementary to the professional simulation.

3/Case study (written test) relating to the collection and analysis of the reason for consultation as part of the health pathway

4/Practical case study (written test) relating to:

Vaccination traceability

Periodic examinations linked to mass screening campaigns (cervicovaginal smear, colorectal screening, breast cancer)

Skill block 2 - Administrative management of patients :

<1/ Professional simulation using digital tools (oral test)

2/ Professional simulation (oral test): Organisation of teleconsultation

3/ Professional simulation (oral test): Simulated reception in a medical practice

4/ Practical case study (written test)

Skill block 3 - Management of contaminant risk and health safety procedures:

<1/ Practical case study (written test) on the management of hygiene, waste and traceability in medical practices

2/ Case study with documentary analysis and role-playing (written test)

Competence block 4 - Operational assistance to the practitioner:

1/ Analysis file and oral interview

2/ Simulated professional situation with a global scenario(oral test)

3/ Practical case study (written test)

In accordance with the order of 7 November 2019 relating to the exercise of the activity of medical assistant, nurses, care assistants and nursery auxiliaries have the option of taking only part of the training linked to the organisation and administrative management of a medical practice. In this case, a training certificate is issued.

Positioning on file:

The aim of positioning is to define the skills held by candidates in order to develop personalised pathways.It is established after the selection of candidates.

Exemptions from training modules may be offered to the candidate.

The positioning relates to exemptions from the training pathway. The exemption exempts candidates from the training time relating to one or more training modules as well as from the corresponding validation tests.

The beneficiary of an exemption will not be subject to any tests on the module(s) of a block of skills that he/she is/are deemed to have acquired.

The positioning is individualised and is established module by module. The examination criteria are the certifications already held by the candidate and his/her professional experience on presentation of the corresponding supporting documents.

Exemption for people holding a certification in medical secretarial work (Rncp) or people with 2 years' experience as a medical secretary

Exemption for holders of a certificate in medical secretarial work (Rncp) or people with one year's experience in the profession

Exemption for holders of a Dental Assistant qualification/CQP Dental Assistant qualification

A 4.4 Implementation of first aid procedures

AFGSU level 1:

Exemption on presentation of the AFGSU certificate valid on the day of the examination

A 4.5 Stock management in medical equipment and pharmaceutical products:

Exempt for holders of the Dental Assistant qualification and the Dental Assistant CQP
