At the end of the course, participants should acquire the following skills:
-Analysing the psychological journey and needs of the person at the end of life
-Describing the semiology of physical pain and psychological suffering
-Expressing, verbalising their feelings and sharing their experience
-Identifying defence mechanisms
-Improving the helping relationship and communication with close relatives.
The training course focuses on 5 main areas:
The legislative and institutional framework
The needs of the person at the end of life:
(The needs of the ill person in the terminal phase of their illness)
- the announcement diagnosis
- from being ill to being at the end of life
- the psychological journey
- the concept of global suffering
- adapting comfort care
- defence mechanisms
- the patient's verbal and non-verbal behaviours.
The experience of carers:
- the impact of the announcement diagnosis on carers
- death experienced as a failure of the caring function
- defence mechanisms
- the role of the multidisciplinary team, the mobile palliative care team ...
- coordination with volunteers
- funeral grooming and rites.
The patient's entourage at the end of life:
- the announcement of the diagnosis and the meaning of death
- defence mechanisms
- coping mechanisms: the work of mourning
- verbal and non-verbal communication with the patient
- the family or close care partners.
The helping relationship:
- deepening the concepts of empathy and active listening
- deciphering family problems.
Caregivers working in institutions and/or the home help sector

Positioning upstream of training entry.
Interviews, remediation with the educational referent and/or company referent during training.
Taking account of beneficiary satisfaction during and at the end of training.
Possibility of post-training support.
For beneficiaries with disabilities: possible adaptation of training and certification arrangements, support by the TH referent.
