CAP in Industrial Boilermaking or Welding - Option A Boilermaking

Rare and sought-after on the job market, holders of the CAP RIC can work as operators such as boilermakers, fitters, formers, welders, etc. Their knowledge enables them to make a wide variety of metal objects by cutting, bending, rolling and welding. They mainly work with sheet metal and metal sections.

The boilermaking option of this CAP aims to develop the production and assembly of structures (tanks, boilers, household appliances, but also wagons, wind turbine towers, aircraft tanks, etc.). The courses enable students to acquire the skills needed to carry out tracing operations using a computer (drawing and transferring life-size indications of shape onto sheet metal), and manufacturing operations: cutting, drilling and shaping (by bending, folding, stamping, etc.) of metal sheets, tubes, pipes and profiles. We teach assembly techniques using different metals and alloys (steel, copper, aluminium, stainless steel, etc.) according to the drawing of the appliance to be built. Trainees learn how to install tools and make adjustments, as well as programming and operating a semi-automatic or numerically controlled machine tool.

The course is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions to promote hands-on, progressive learning.

Throughout the programme, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables students to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learners to learn in conditions that closely resemble the real working world.

Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Assessment tests may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.

Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.

This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.

If a candidate fails the qualification, they retain credit for the modules they have passed and may retake the remaining examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years

The holder of the diploma of the CAP "Réalisations industrielles en chaudronnerie ou soudage" will exercise his/her professional skills in a wide variety of sectors of activity, mainly in the fields of boiler making, sheet metal work, industrial pipework and mechanical welding, but also in the fields of metal construction, metalwork and metal joinery.

Target occupations:

The holder of the CAP diploma "Réalisations industrielles en chaudronnerie ou soudage, option A: chaudronnerie" (Industrial boiler making or welding, option A: boiler making) will find employment as a sheet metal worker, boiler pipe fitter, boiler welder and, more generally, in jobs relating to sheet metal and section work. They can work in a wide variety of companies (craft firms, small and medium-sized businesses, SMEs, large industrial companies), and their activities can lead them to become team leaders.
