CAP IFCA - Refrigeration and air conditioning installer

Acquire the knowledge and skills needed to carry out routine work on refrigeration and/or air-conditioning installations: site preparation, installation, commissioning, maintenance and communication.

This skilled worker builds the various networks and assembles the equipment, performs equipment power-up and adjustment operations and carries out equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, in compliance with safety and environmental protection rules.

The training is structured around Blocks of Competence ( BC):

BC01 - Preparing a project

• Organising information

BC02 - Carrying out an installation

• Organise the workstation
• Communicate with the various parties involved
• Identify the power supply networks on site
• Implant, handling, fixing supports, equipment and fixings
• Forming, connecting, assembling, insulating circuits (refrigeration, hydraulics, aeraulics)
• Perform simple steel welding operations and connect PER
• Wire, locate and connect electrical and electronic links
• Check the implementation of installed electrical and fluidic equipment
• Sort and recycle waste
• Ensure the tightness of a circuit (refrigeration, hydraulic) before commissioning

BC03 - Maintenance, commissioning

• Vacuuming the refrigeration circuit
• Handling refrigerant and oils
• Checking the tightness of a refrigeration circuit charged with fluid
• Working on a hydraulic or aeraulic circuit
• Measuring, compare quantities
• Parameterise or adjust the set values received on a regulation and safety device
• Connect the charging, measuring and control equipment

• Apply a method for analysing a situation from everyday or professional life and a document
• Relate a physiological phenomenon, an environmental issue, a regulatory provision, with a preventive measure
• Propose a solution to resolve a problem related to health, the environment or consumption and argue for a choice
• Communicate in writing and orally using clear syntax and appropriate technical vocabulary
• Act in an emergency situation

To work as a refrigeration and heat pump equipment installer in companies:

• in the field of climate engineering and/or refrigeration engineering involved in the installation, maintenance and repair
• of manufacturing and assembly of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
• operating on industrial and commercial sites with refrigeration and/or air conditioning systems: food processing, health sector, defence, tertiary, mortuary
• on-board refrigeration (container, road, rail, air and sea).

Possibility, under certain conditions, of continuing studies in 2 years on a Bac Professionnel (examples: Technicien de maintenance des systèmes énergétiques et climatiques, Technicien du froid et du conditionnement de l'air) or a Brevet Professionnel (BP).
