The holder of the CAP electrician works as an electrician to carry out, both inside and outside buildings, electrical installation work intended for lighting, heating, signalling and powering machinery.
He sets up electrical installations, ensures they are commissioned and carries out breakdown and maintenance work.
In his work, he masters the normative and regulatory aspects specific to electrical installations, the safety of people and property, and understands the relational aspects, energy efficiency, environmental protection and sustainable development.
They work, under the responsibility of a works manager, on installations in individual or collective housing, industrial buildings, office blocks, distribution networks...
They may also work in the transport, distribution, electrical equipment and installation sectors.
The course is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions to promote hands-on, progressive learning.

Throughout the programme, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor learning to each individual’s needs.
A work placement also enables students to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.
Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Assessment tests may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.
Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.
This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.
If a candidate fails the qualification, they retain credit for the modules they have passed and may retake the remaining examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years

The CAP allows rapid professional integration but it is possible, under certain conditions, to continue studies in 1 year with a complementary mention (MC) or in 2 years in BAC PRO, BP or with the diploma of fitter technician in electrical networks.
