CAP Cabinetmaker

At the end of their training, holders of the CAP "Cabinetmaker will be able to:

- prepare, manufacture and install simple works;

- carry out all or part of the works in compliance with aesthetic criteria and constraints linked to traditional techniques or current manufacturing, finishing and installation techniques.

- integrate into a work team and, after a few months in the company, develop their independence and show their ability to manufacture and take part in the installation of all or part of a work in compliance with the instructions given.

The training is made up of blocks of skills (BC):

BC01 - Stylistic and aesthetic analysis and proposal of aesthetic and technical solutions

• Identify, classify and prioritise aesthetic and stylistic information
• Identify data from a specification
• Identify aesthetic characteristics and constraints, contextual characteristics and constraints of a piece of furniture or an arrangement
• Translate aesthetic intentions graphically

BC02 - Analysis of the work and preparation for manufacture

• Identify, classify and interpret information and technical constraints
• Propose and justify technical and aesthetic solutions for production
• Translate functional and technical solutions graphically
• Establish quantities of materials, decorative elements, hardware

BC03 - Manufacture and installation of furniture

• Prepare manufacturing documents
• Organise and ensure the safety of the workstation
• Perform drawings and sketches for a workpiece
• Prepare materials, decorative elements, hardware
• Install and adjust tooling
• Perform manual and machining operations on conventional or numerically-positioned machines
• Perform plating operations
• Conduct assembly and finishing assembly and finishing operations
• Condition and install the work
• Perform routine maintenance operations
• Communicate with the various partners

BC04 - French and History-geography-moral and civic education 

BC05 - Mathematics and physics-chemistry

BC06 - Physical education and sport( for apprentices only)

BC07 - Prevention-health-environment

BC08 - Modern foreign language

• Diploma from the Ministry of National Education and Youth Level 3 (CAP)

1. Pre-registration form (top right of page) to be completed.

2. Email CV, covering letter and copies of diplomas to make up an application file.

3. Interview and positioning with the educational coordinator to finalise enrolment.

INFORMATION: Telephone reception on mornings only

This CAP leads to working life, but it is possible, under certain conditions, to continue with a 2-year BMA (brevet des métiers d'art) or vocational baccalaureate.

Other option: preparing for a second CAP in the same field, to deepen your field of skills.
