Acquire the skills to:

In a cross-disciplinary manner, the holder of the "Vehicle Maintenance" advanced technician's certificate mobilises:

• technical skills in different aspects of maintenance;
• organisational and management skills;
• information technology skills for communication purposes and the use of specialised software;
• internal (teamwork) and external (customer relations, technical assistance platform) communication skills;
• commercial skills.

The course is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions to promote hands-on, progressive learning.

BC01 - Systems analysis and performance monitoring

• Describe how a system works
• Identify a system’s input and output variables
• Characterise a system’s performance

BC02 - Managing a service call – Customer relations

• Propose cost-effective solutions
• Apply appropriate preventative measures
• Provide technical support to staff
• Apply customer service procedures (including in English)

BC03 - Vehicle service call

• List of skills Confirm the fault
• Formulate hypotheses based on the symptoms
• Identify the faulty components
• Organise the service
• Restore compliance, adjust, configure
• Verify the quality of the repair

BC04 - Company knowledge

• Manage the equipment required for repairs
• Plan and manage repairs
• Liaise with internal and external professionals

BC05 - Measurements and analysis

• Carry out measurements and tests
• Collect technical data

General education modules: French and communication; Mathematics; Physics and chemistry; English

Throughout the course, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables students to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learning in conditions that closely resemble the real working world.

Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Assessment tests may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.

Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.

This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.

If a candidate fails the qualification, they retain credit for the modules they have passed and may retake the remaining examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years

• Career prospects: Holders of the BTS in Vehicle Maintenance work in manufacturers’ after-sales networks, at brand dealerships, in independent companies or networks, in vehicle fleet maintenance departments (for large companies or the State), and in manufacturers’ after-sales methods departments.

  Workshop receptionist, service adviser, team or unit leader, diagnostic technician and manufacturer’s technical adviser are the most common roles and positions within after-sales services.

  
  
• Further career paths: The BTS in Vehicle Maintenance is a qualifying qualification that does not necessarily require further study. Nevertheless, there are several potential career paths to consider: training, management, consultancy and teaching.

  The professional bachelor’s degrees available (bac+3) relate to the mechanical engineering sector (engineering sciences, industrial technical programmes, electronic equipment) and the bodywork sector (technology, maintenance of multi-technological systems). A technical-commercial career path may also be considered.

  • After two years of a vocational baccalaureate in Machinery Maintenance with a specialisation in Public Works, Alicia took up a salaried position in machinery maintenance.

    Passionate about motor vehicles and confident in her potential, Alicia returned to education via an apprenticeship to study for a BTS in Vehicle Maintenance, specialising in passenger cars. Top of her year in 2022, she now holds a key position within the company that trained her.
