 BTS - EuroPlastics and Composites - POP Option: Production Management and Optimisation

The holder of this BTS is a technician and operational manager with a solid knowledge of plastics processing. The technician's field of activity for this option POP covers production monitoring, in compliance with specifications (costs, deadlines, quality and compliance objectives), safety rules and sustainable development issues, and makes graduates capable of taking responsibility for a workshop or production cell and supervising teams.

At the end of their training, graduates will be able to:

  • Do the preliminary and detailed design of tooling
  • Prepare the tooling definition file
  • Define and improve the tooling maintenance plan
  • Participate in company exchanges and be a potential contact with tooling production companies, capable of taking charge of and satisfying their demand.

The programme is structured around several skill blocks (BC):

BC01: Responding to a case - Preliminary design

- Interpreting a preliminary design file

- Identifying and specifying technologies and means of production

BC02: Industrial project for the detailed design of a process and industrialisation

- Carry out a technology watch and search for information in technical documentation, locally or remotely;

- Formulate and pass on information, communicate in written and oral form including in English ;

- Draw up and/or take part in drawing up functional specifications for parts or tooling;

- Design and define, using CAD software and associated simulation tools, all or part of a part, assembly or tooling ;

- Define production processes;

- Define and implement tests or simulations to validate a solution;

- Define and organise working environments;

- Define a monitoring plan for the production of a plastic or composite part or subassembly or for the maintenance of tooling ;

- Propose technical, economic and environmental improvements;

- Plan a production run;

- Qualify production resources in production mode;

- Develop and qualify all or part of a tool.

BC03 - Collaborative project to optimise a product or process

- Get involved in a project group and argue for technical choices

- Take part in a collaborative process to design or produce plastic (polymer) or composite parts

BC04 - Production management in a company

- Integrate into a professional environment and capitalise on experience ;

- Launch and monitor a project;

- Coordinate a work group;

- Apply a quality plan, a safety plan, an environmental plan.


  • Diploma from the Ministry of National Education and Youth Level 5

Maximum total duration of 3,650 hours, including 2,300 hours in a company and 1,350 hours at the training centre.

This BTS is a diploma designed for professional integration in design offices, methods, industrialisation, production, testing and quality. With a good portfolio or a distinction in the exam, further study may be possible in a professional degree in the materials field, LMD degree (L3 in engineering sciences), engineering school through parallel admissions or via an ATS preparatory class.

This BTS has two options: option CO Tooling Design, which is further upstream from the industrialisation phase, and option POP Production Steering and Optimisation, which is further downstream. GRETA CFA offers a choice of these 2 options, which enable the broadest spectrum to be covered by providing the skills required for the needs of various plastics processing companies.
