At the end of their training, holders of the BTS Assurance will be able to:

- provide customers (companies or individuals) with their expertise and advice at any stage in the life of the contract, both for the sales proposal and for the management of contracts and claims.

- to rely on and use digital information and communication media to build and communicate advice and assistance effectively.

- to work as part of a team to provide the best and most technical response to the expectations of a better informed and more demanding customer base.


The course is structured into skills modules to ensure step-by-step progression, combining theoretical input, practical application and assessments. It includes individualised support (regular academic monitoring) and a work placement to develop skills in a real-world setting.

Skills common to all modules:

  • Using digital tools and information systems.
  • Referring situations outside the scope to the relevant departments.

BC1 – Professional culture and client follow-up

  • Collect, analyse and share relevant information.
  • Analyse risks and the value of the client portfolio.
  • Manage contracts, premiums and outstanding payments.
  • Apply procedures and regulations; explain cover, exclusions, excesses and limits.
  • Contribute to business development.

BC2 – Business development and conducting client meetings

  • Communicate effectively in a business context.
  • Identify the client’s needs and expectations, inform them, guide them and advise them.
  • Conduct and follow up on a sales meeting: read a contract, carry out prospecting activities, assess risks and propose solutions.
  • Draw up and present a quote; research economic, legal and tax information.

BC3 – Claims management

  • Identify and share relevant information.
  • Read and analyse a contract; apply claims management procedures.
  • Carry out operations relating to insurance benefits.
  • Explain a claim settlement or a refusal of cover; handle complaints and objections.
  • Negotiate and pursue remedies; ensure follow-up of the claim and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify unusual situations.

BC4 – Initial response to a claim and digital communication

  • Receive and assist the claimant; understand the circumstances of the claim.
  • Verify the admissibility of a claim; explain procedures and terms of cover.
  • Recommend precautionary measures; justify decisions to accept or reject a claim.
  • Apply data protection rules and internal digital procedures.
  • Adapt the communication channel; communicate via digital platforms.

  • Diploma from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research Level 5

Monitoring and individualisation

Equivalences and gateways: to be studied on a case-by-case basis depending on the candidate's background.


Education Nationale certified teachers, Bac +3 trainers with significant experience in adult education, professional lecturers.


Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Certification assessments may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.

Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.

This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.

If a candidate fails to obtain the qualification, they retain the credits for the modules they have passed and may retake the outstanding examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years.

Fit into the job:

- in positions as Customer Adviser, Insurance and Savings Adviser, Teleconsultant in a brokerage firm, in product and service distribution functions in branches or within specialised platforms, whether in property and liability insurance or personal insurance, particularly savings and provident schemes.

- in management adviser, insurance benefits manager and claims manager positions, in brokerage firms or general agencies, in contract management functions from risk acceptance and pricing through to assumption of responsibility, compensation and claims settlement.

Continuation of studies in a professional Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Banking, Finance and possibly in Master's degrees 1 and 2.
