The Barman welcomes customers and ensures a high-quality customer experience. They advise customers on drinks and help to create a lively atmosphere in the venue. They work independently to set up the bar, prepare and serve drinks, and implement measures to ensure health and safety within the venue. They contribute to the development and evolution of the drinks menu by creating new drinks tailored to the needs of the venue’s customers, as well as helping to create the venue’s atmosphere. They handle billing and take payment from customers. They are also responsible for taking orders, managing stock and ensuring restocking.

RNCP39345BC01 – Providing and optimising customer reception and service at the bar

  • Welcoming and advising customers at the bar or in the dining area, in French and English, adapting one’s communication style accordingly.
  • Promote and sell products by suggesting appropriate pairings of drinks and accompaniments.
  • Prepare the equipment and areas required for service in accordance with regulations.
  • Serve drinks and accompaniments, ensuring the quality of service and compliance with payment procedures.
  • Work in coordination with the team in accordance with the division of tasks.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction, handle complaints and provide appropriate responses.
  • Prevent risky behaviour and ensure the safety of people and property.

RNCP39345BC02 – Ensure the preparation and availability of drinks and accompanying products served at the bar

  • Prepare the products required for service in accordance with expected footfall and in compliance with health and food safety regulations.
  • Prepare various types of drinks and accompanying products in accordance with technical specifications and the establishment’s standards.
  • Ensure the cleaning and maintenance of areas, materials and equipment in accordance with current protocols.
  • Manage stock and supplies to ensure the availability of products and consumables.
  • Receive, check and store goods, reporting any anomalies and adhering to safety procedures.

RNCP39345BC03 – Support the development of the product range and the improvement of the customer experience at the bar

  • Gather and analyse market trends and customer expectations using various sources of information.
  • Study consumption habits and customer profiles in order to propose changes to the product range.
  • Develop new drinks or accompanying products, ensuring their quality, appeal and profitability.
  • Propose and help organise activities, events or atmospheres tailored to customers’ expectations and the venue’s resources.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the customer experience and the promotion of the bar’s offering.

  • Professional qualification awarded by the CPNE-HCR Level 4

Maximum total duration of 875 hours, including 420 hours in a company and 455 hours at the training centre.
The duration of the course is indicative and will be determined according to your profile.

Holders of the TFP Barman qualification may work in businesses within the Hotels, cafés and restaurants (HCR), whose main activities involve the provision of accommodation and/or meals and/or drinks and, where applicable, associated services.
