As site supervisors have evolved into less and less technical business management roles, the baccalauréat TP team leader on a small site carries out all the work in his or her speciality, based on general guidelines. Holders of a Bac Pro in Public Works carry out formwork, reinforcement and concreting work. They are also able to read plans and keep records, manage a team and communicate effectively. The holder of this diploma works as a technician on a building site. They work in the production department of a public works company, building roads, earthworks, pipelines and engineering structures (bridges, dams, tunnels).
Their skills range from organisation to supervision and management. They help to ensure that the worksite runs smoothly until it is handed over to the customer: technical preparation, definition of tasks, their completion times and their order of execution. They check that materials and equipment are supplied and used correctly. Throughout the worksite, he ensures that the execution schedule and safety rules are adhered to.

Vocational courses: Administrative and legal context of construction: participants, administrative procedures, guarantees, etc.
Technical communication: sketches, graphics, plans and maps, etc. User comfort: acoustics and noise pollution, town planning and the environment (site waste, pollution risks), etc. Technical approach to structures: applied mechanics and strength of materials, analysis of structures (earthworks, civil engineering, pipes, roads), etc. Construction technology: earthworks, engineering structures, pipe networks, road networks and highways, materials, etc. Implementation techniques and processes: layout and surveys, earthworks, shoring, road techniques, formwork and concreting, assembly of network components, etc. Health and safety at work. Use of tools, equipment and site machinery. Work management: organisation and costs, quality approach.

General lessons: French, History-geography, Languages, Mathematics, Science, Management, Applied arts, PE

In-company time alternating with periods at the training centre.

The holder of a Bac Pro in Public Works is trained to become a man of the field, and therefore practises the profession of : Pipe fitter,Public works machine operator, Site manager, Draughtsman-project designer, Building and Public Works (BTP),BTP draughtsman, BTP project manager, Demolition preparer. The BAC PRO Public Works is designed for entry into working life. However, it is possible to continue your studies by preparing for a Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) Travaux publics
