Acquisition of the knowledge required, in line with French medical recommendations for good practice, to identify a medical emergency and manage it as part of a team, using non-invasive techniques while awaiting the arrival of the medical team.

The objectives of level 2 emergency care training are to acquire knowledge enabling:

1. The identification of a medical emergency situation and its management, alone or as part of a team, including remote guidance for the performance of emergency procedures, pending the arrival of the specialist medical team

2. Participation in the response to a collective emergency or an exceptional health situation


The training is organised around 3 modules (Order of 1 July 2019 amending the Order of 30 December 2014):

  • Vital emergencies: Alerts and protection, haemorrhage, cardiorespiratory arrest, unconsciousness, airway obstruction
  • Potential emergencies: Illness, trauma, burns, wounds, hygiene and risk of infection, immobilisation, unplanned childbirth
  • Collective risks and exceptional health situations: ORSAN and ORSEC measures, plans for managing exceptional health situations, damage control, CBRN-E, alerts, medical and psychological care

  • AFGSU - Certificate of training in emergency first aid - level 2

The AFGSU level 2 is intended for professionals practising one of the health professions mentioned in the fourth part of the public health code and for students enrolled in a university, school or training institute preparing to obtain a diploma with a view to practising one of these health professions, and for people who hold, or are in the process of obtaining, the educational and social support diploma mentioned in article D. 451-88 of the Code de l'Action Sociale et des Familles, the diploma of medical regulation assistants, medical assistants, blood samplers for medical biology examinations and ambulance attendants.

Level 2 Emergency First Aid Training Certificate

In accordance with Article 5 of the Order of 30 December 2014, "the validity of the Level 1 and 2 Emergency First Aid Training Certificate is four years. The certificate is renewed after knowledge refresher sessions organised by one of the authorised training structures for healthcare professionals"

Exercising one of the health professions mentioned in Part Four of the Public Health Code

Exercising a position as an educational and social support worker mentioned in article D. 451-88 of the Social Action and Family Code, the diploma of medical regulation assistants, medical assistant, blood sampler for medical biology examinations or ambulance auxiliary.
