A 2? hour simulation of real-life work situations: the candidate must complete a global mission. It is broken down into a series of tasks, all linked together, enabling the level of mastery of the 5 language skills mentioned in the activity, skill and assessment reference frameworks to be assessed.

The DCL certifies the language skills needed to carry out activities in a professional situation, in accordance with the CEFR - Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and its different levels.

The originality of the DCL compared to many language certifications offered lies in the fact that it assesses language skills in a cross-cutting use in all professional sectors and above all in action in accordance with the CEFR in the context of an assignment to be carried out.

A unique feature of the DCL is that candidates do not have to indicate in advance the level at which they wish to be assessed; it is the level of performance that determines the allocation of a language level in line with the CEFR, so the DCL is part of the logic of positive assessment.

Another original feature of the DCL is that the assessment in this assignment covers all the language activities of oral and written comprehension, written and oral expression and oral interaction. The assignment involves a sequence of interlinked tasks and language activities. The activities to be carried out are contextualised by means of professional situations and the use of authentic written or audio documents. They are not organised separately from each other as in many qualifications.

The DCL languages are among the most widely used in companies or professional environments nationally.

The DCL was created specifically for adults and corresponds to the needs of the professional world. It is aimed at employees, jobseekers, vocational training trainees, students and private individuals, and can be taken by anyone seeking professional mobility, as well as by a European resident wishing to work in France, or by a person from an immigrant background or a refugee seeking to enter professional life.
