Joinery fitters work on construction sites for new and existing individual and collective housing, and public buildings. Outside, they install doors, windows, shutters, gates and blinds, with or without motorisation. Indoors, he adapts and installs doors, staircases, parquet flooring and furniture elements (dressing rooms, kitchens, bathrooms).

The holder of the Carpenter fitter vocational qualification is able to:

  • prepare and organise the execution of installation work based on a technical file
  • install and fit joinery, external closures and external security and solar protection elements. Fit out a space for private or professional use indoors
  • inform the customer about the conditions of use and maintenance of the equipment installed
  • take part in the acceptance of the site with the team leader or company manager
  • comply with individual and collective health and safety rules


The course is organised into several skill modules, allowing for step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions to encourage hands-on, progressive learning.

BC01 - Install and fit external joinery and doors and windows

  • Prepare and organise the installation of external joinery and doors and windows
  • Install external doors and windows
  • Install hinged and roller shutters

BC02 - Install and fit security and sun protection elements

  • Prepare and organise the installation of security and sun protection features
  • Install gates
  • Install awnings

BC03 - Fit out an interior space for private or professional use

  • Prepare and organise the execution of interior fitting-out works
  • Adapt and install interior joinery
  • Fitting and installing wooden staircases
  • Fitting and installing solid, engineered or laminate flooring
  • Fitting and installing furniture as part of an interior fit-out
  • Installing and connecting sanitary fittings, electrical fittings and domestic appliances

Throughout the course, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor the learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables students to develop their professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learners to learn in conditions that closely resemble the real working world.

Maximum total duration of 1,812 hours, including 1,329 hours on the job and 483 hours at the training centre.

For this professional qualification, ongoing assessments (ECF) are organised throughout the course to evaluate the candidate’s progress and their mastery of professional skills.

The final examination takes place before a two-member examination panel comprising professionals from the sector. It comprises a professional role-play and an interview based on the professional portfolio (DP), which highlights the experience and skills developed by the candidate.

The final examination takes place within two months of the end of the training course.

The examination panel validates all or part of the Professional Qualification. In the event of partial validation, the professional competence certificates (CCP) (or competence modules) obtained are valid for a period of five years.

The candidate may subsequently complete the missing modules to obtain the Professional Qualification in its entirety.
