 Professional qualification: Regional Tourism Development Officer (TP)

The territorial tourism development manager federates and supports the players in tourism or linked to the sector, in order to increase the quality of the welcome and the attractiveness of the area, optimise the number of visitors, the resources induced and enhance the assets of the area within the framework of sustainable development.

The holder of this professional qualification is able to:

  • identify the partners likely to take part in a tourism initiative and solicit their support
  • participate in the programming of the phases of the project or event and coordinate the teams of employees and volunteers involved
  • contribute to the administrative management of the project in compliance with the mandatory rules and deadlines
  • contribute to the implementation of the communication plan multimedia
  • carry out regular marketing monitoring and help operators to create or improve tourism offers by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of services and the expectations of target customers
  • advise operators on how to draw up a management forecast for a project
  • recommend actions to ensure or improve the profitability of a project, helping to put together an application for funding and preparing the accounts required for an action's balance sheet
  • assisting in the preparation of applications for certification or classification and in the use of questionnaires in French and English

The territorial tourism development manager works with numerous institutional and professional partners whose operating methods and objectives may differ. He/she works with a view to joint success and facilitates mutual understanding between partners.

In carrying out their activities, Territorial Tourism Development Managers use English at level B2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.


The course is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical application and assessment sessions to promote hands-on, progressive learning.

BC01 – Implementing sustainable tourism projects in a region

  • Leading a sustainable tourism development project with a network of partners
  • Managing and motivating teams of staff and volunteers within a region
  • Managing, monitoring and presenting tourism development proposals

BC02 - Contribute to enhancing the region’s appeal and its tourism offerings

  • Carry out a regional assessment and a tourism market study
  • Design a sustainable tourism offering, and contribute to its implementation and marketing.
  • Help promote a region and its tourism offerings in French and English.

BC03 - Ensure the financial viability of a tourism initiative

  • Assess the feasibility and sustainable economic development of a tourism organisation or initiative
  • Support local stakeholders in putting together a financial proposal and seeking funding

BC04 - Contribute to the development of a quality approach to tourist hospitality

  • Implement a hospitality and information policy and optimise visitor routes for different groups. 
  • Support the development of the quality and reputation of the region and its tourism providers
  • Support tourism operators in obtaining and implementing a quality label or classification

Throughout the course, students receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables students to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learning in conditions that closely resemble the real-world workplace.

Maximum total duration of 1,736 hours, of which 1,134 hours in a company and 455 hours at the training centre.

For this professional qualification, ongoing assessments (ECF) are organised throughout the course to evaluate the candidate’s progress and their mastery of professional skills.

The final examination takes place before a two-member examination panel comprising professionals from the sector. It comprises a professional role-play and an interview based on the professional portfolio (DP), which highlights the experience and skills developed by the candidate.

The final examination takes place within two months of the end of the training course.

The examination panel validates all or part of the Professional Qualification. In the event of partial validation, the professional competence certificates (CCP) (or competence modules) obtained are valid for a period of five years.

The candidate may subsequently complete the missing modules to obtain the Professional Qualification in its entirety.
