Mechanical machining: Further training in conventional turning

• To enable participants to perfect their turning skills and knowledge, both in practice and in theory,
• To select the appropriate tooling in relation to the machining to be carried out,
• To adjust the parameters (cutting speed, rotation, feed) of conventional lathes.

Public concerned : Staff in the maintenance or manufacturing department, with little experience or who have had distant basic training, who need to operate a conventional lathe.

THEORY

• Knowledge of conventional lathes and their settings,
• Safety rules,
• Based on the metal to be machined and the surface finishes to be obtained: Choice of tools, inserts; Calculation of cutting speeds (rotational speed); Calculation of feeds
• Remembering angles and ribs using trigonometry,
• Working methodology, picking up workpieces

PRATICS

• Performing practical exercises of increasing complexity while respecting dimensional, shape and position tolerances: Internal and external turning; Shoulder; Internal, external taper; Threading; Drilling, tapping, reaming; Dimensional control of parts produced

Alternation between theory and practice; Course documents given to trainees

Individual progression is defined according to each trainee's experience, level of knowledge and machining work carried out in the company,

A conventional lathe is made available to each trainee.
