MAC APS - Maintaining and updating the skills of security guards: human surveillance and guarding

MAC training may be carried out within 24 months before the expiry date of the professional card.
Agents may apply to renew their professional card 3 months before its expiry date. In order to avoid rejection of an application for renewal of the card, the agent may indicate to the CNAPS the dates of the MAC training course. The mere fact of being enrolled in a MAC training course does not give entitlement to a receipt for the application to renew the professional card. Only the certificate of attendance and successful completion of the MAC training course is considered as an explicit element of the completeness of the renewal application.

The main objectives of the MAC training course for Private Security Agent Human Surveillance or Guarding are defined by the Official Programme of the Ministry of the Interior (Order of 27/02/2017) relating to the ongoing training of private security agents.

The maximum duration of the training course is set at 62 hours for jobseekers. For employees this duration may be reduced to the regulatory duration. Exemptions may be requested by the agent if they have, in addition, completed an identical module as part of another MAC or if the agent already holds a valid SST certificate. These exemptions are provided for in the regulations and may only concern 3 modules: Basic first aid, Prevention of terrorist risks, Legal framework for APS intervention

The programme is made up of 4 modules: Basic 1st aid gestures, Legal framework for Private Security Agent intervention,General operational skills, Specific operational skills: preventing terrorist risks

MODULE 1: Basic 1st aid gestures: 7 hours

Intervening in an accident situation / Alerting emergency services / Rescuing a victim

MODULE 2: Legal framework for Private Security Agent intervention: 4 hours

Updating knowledge of the PSA profession / Professional ethics / Professional obligations / Self-defence / Personal injury / Art. 57 et 73 du Code de Procédure Pénale / Non assistance à personne en danger / Secret professionnel

MODULE 3: General operational skills: 7 hours

Conflict management Origins and prevention of conflicts / Adaptation of behaviour / Screening measures / Legislative framework for palpations / Approval procedures / Visual baggage inspection techniques / Palpation techniques

MODULE 4: Specific operational skills: prevention of terrorist risks : 13 hours

Agents whose professional card has expired must apply to the CNAPS for prior authorisation to enter MAC APS training. People who obtained their prior authorisation before the date of promulgation of the law requiring applicants to hold a 5-year residence permit will be able to obtain a professional card on completion of their training.
