MAC APS - Maintaining and updating the skills of security guards: human surveillance and guarding

Maintain and update the skills required to renew the professional card allowing its holder to operate as a Prevention and Security Agent (or Guarding Agent which may include electronic security systems or Human Surveillance).

MAC training is carried out within 24 months before the expiry of the validity of the professional card.

Agents may apply to renew their professional card 3 months before its expiry date.

A person who holds a valid occupational first aid (SST) training course at the time of the course, or a PSC refresher course less than 2 years old at the time of the course, is exempt, at their request, from following the "basic first aid" module.

Only the certificate of attendance and successful completion of the MAC training course is considered as an explicit element of the completeness of the renewal file with the Cnaps.

The main objectives of the MAC training course for Private Security Agent Human Surveillance or Guarding are defined by the Official Programme of the Ministry of the Interior (Order of 27/02/2017) relating to the continuing education of private security agents, Art.1 to 4.

The maximum duration of training is set at 48 hours for jobseekers. For employees, this duration may be reduced to the regulatory duration, i.e. 34h.

Update 2023: The decree of 05 January 2023 amended the provisions relating to the training of private security guards. From 01 May 2023 the MAC APS training course will go from 24 hours to 27 hours, incorporating a new 3-hour module on "The principles of the French Republic"

The programme consists of the 5 modules:

MODULE 1: Basic 1st aid procedures: 7 hours

Acting in an accident situation / Alerting emergency services / Rescuing a victim

MODULE 2: Legal framework for private security guard intervention: 4 hours

Updating knowledge of the main principles governing the private security guard profession and professional ethics / Professional obligations / Self-defence / Personal injury / Art. 53 and 73 of the Code of Criminal Procedure / Non-assistance to a person in danger / Professional secrecy...

MODULE 3: General operational skills: 7 hours

Conflict management: Origins and prevention of conflicts / Adapting behaviour / Managing emotions...

Inspection-filtering measures: Legislative framework / Approval procedures / Visual baggage inspection and palpation techniques

MODULE 4: Specific operational skills: preventing terrorist risks : 13 hours

Defining terrorist risks and knowing the different terrorist threats; Understanding the associated levels of risk; Knowing the different terrorist materials; Knowing how to develop your reflexes in terms of prevention and security in the face of terrorist threats; Ability and prevention: the right reflexes in the face of terrorist threats; Knowing how to maintain your security culture; protecting yourself; alerting the forces of law and order and facilitating their intervention; Securing an area; identifying the risk of injury; Tactical first aid;

MODULE 5: Knowing the principles of the French Republic: 3 hours Principles and symbols of the Republic, rule of law and public order.

• Certificate of completion of training to maintain and update skills (in accordance with art. R.612-17)
• Habilitation from the Ministry of the Interior

The duration of the course is indicative and will be determined according to your profile.

The agent whose professional card has expired must imperatively apply to the CNAPS for prior authorisation to enter MAC APS training.
