The fundamentals of project management

At the end of the training course, the learner will be able to:

• Define the scope, issues and deliverables of a project (Scoping).
• Identify and solicit stakeholders (Governance).
• Plan the stages, resources and budget (Planning).
• Pilot the progress of the project and adjust according to hazards (Monitoring).
• Closing the project and carrying out an assessment (Evaluation).

The training consists of several modules:

1: Initialisation and Framing

• Launch: What is a project? Life cycle and key success factors.
• Framing: Using the project sheet and the SMART method for objectives.
• Risk analysis: Anticipating obstacles from the outset.

2: Planning and Organisation

• Module 1: Breaking down the project into tasks (WBS - Work Breakdown Structure).
• Module 2: Scheduling tasks: the Gantt chart to manage time.
• Module 3: Allocating resources and building a provisional budget.
• Module 4: Choosing your tools: Trello, Planner, Excel or MS Project?

3: Steering and Communication

• Module 5: Leading the project team and managing launch/follow-up meetings.
• Module 6: Performance indicators (KPIs): how do you know if you're on track?
• Module 7: Communicating about the project: adapting your message to suit the target audience.

4: Practical application and assessment

• Simulation: "The project crash-test" - Managing a major unforeseen event as a team.
• Closing: Organising the Rex (Feedback).
• Assessment: Flash presentation of the "red thread" project and final quiz.

The course combines face-to-face and distance learning. Learning takes place through a mix of sessions at the centre, virtual classes, online resources and regular support from the trainer.
