Optical fibre Reflectometry measurement

This training course on the reflectometric measurement of optical fibres enables technicians to control an optical fibre network independently, check connections and discover all the theoretical and technical knowledge of optical fibre measurement by reflectometry.
The theoretical dimension provides the necessary perspective to understand day-to-day actions and, therefore, to better memorise them. Practical work is an important part of the course.
The main objectives of the course are :

• Initiation to reflectometry on JDSU MTS4000 optical links
• Knowing the basic principles of reflectometric measurement techniques (OTDR)
• Setting up and implementing a reflectometry or photometry measurement
• Interpreting and commenting on the results, identifying anomalies, making a diagnosis and repairing
• Developing an in-depth recipe. Use the FIBERCABLE software

This training course is aimed at network technicians, site managers, project managers, fitters and cablers.

Technological teaching modules:

• Measurement steps, expected typical values;
• Operating principles of an optical reflectometer (backscattering) and a photometric measurement bench Influence of the setting parameters of an optical reflectometer
• Precautions for use

Practical teaching modules:

• Adjustments to OTDR parameters
• Influences of parameters on results
• Measurement and analysis of a fibre optic link (slopes, attenuations, balance, etc...)
• Demonstrations of photometric measurements
• Recipe file: ORANGE, FREE, SFR...
