Fire safety training is compulsory every year for all staff, in accordance with Articles R4227-28 to R4227-39 of the Labour Code. It is generally carried out in-house by the employer or by a designated competent member of staff, and covers staff information, knowledge of procedures, the use of first-aid equipment and the annual evacuation drill.

Fire prevention experts and health and safety committees recommend having one first-response team member for every 10 employees and at least one first-response team member per building, floor or high-risk area.

It is also advisable to train between 20 and 30 per cent of staff to ensure sufficient response capacity.

An annual 4-hour refresher course is recommended to maintain the operational skills of first-response team members.

The PPE training offered is a supplementary course, which is more comprehensive and practical. It covers the regulatory fundamentals (theory, instructions, use of fire extinguishers) and reinforces them with response skills tailored to the needs of each organisation:

  • To enable team members to adopt a preventative mindset and learn fire-fighting techniques. To define the role of safety team members.
  • To familiarise participants with the company’s alarm and emergency alert systems, fire-fighting equipment and the procedures to follow during an evacuation.
  • Master the fundamentals of fire safety.
  • Know how to raise the alarm.

Depending on the client’s requirements, the following modules can be included:

  • a evacuation drill (lead-the-way, bring-up-the-rear),
  • an introduction to the fire safety system (reading the control panel, zones, faults, securing the premises),
  • additional fire extinguisher training,
  • or to direct staff towards further training: SSIAP (public buildings/high-rise buildings), Occupational Health and Safety (SST), electrical accreditation

Upon completion of the training, the safety log is updated to reflect the activities actually carried out, and a personalised certificate is issued to each participant:

  • PPE training,
  • evacuation drills,
  • fire safety awareness,
  • use of fire extinguishers
