• Confirm the malfunction felt and stated by the customer,
• Record the technical information required for the diagnosis,
• Perform checks and measurements and note any deviations from the manufacturer/equipment manufacturer data,
• Analyse the malfunctioning system and interpret the checks and measurements,
• Estimate the cost of the work.

• Perform the appropriate checks (auditory, visual, road tests),
• Identify the vehicle and check the information on the repair order (O.R.),
• Choose the appropriate diagnostic tools,
• Apply the recommended procedure,
• Compare the data collected with the "manufacturer's data",
• Formulate and rank hypotheses,
• Establish the "cause-effect(s)" relationship between the symptom identified and the variable measured,
• Analyse the data collected relating to the malfunction,
• Parameterise and configure the vehicle's complex systems,
• Choose the economically appropriate intervention process(es),
• Define the intervention times (with or without a scale).
