Upon completion of their training, holders of the CQP in Medical Assistance will be able to assist a private practitioner, whether a general practitioner or a specialist, in managing patient care pathways and records, and in tasks relating to the preparation and conduct of consultations:

  • by welcoming and looking after patients,
  • by coordinating the planning of the department’s activities,
  • by processing and managing the administrative aspects of patient records,
  • by coordinating operations relating to patients’ care pathways.
  • by managing the risk of infection and implementing health and safety procedures
  • by preparing patients for medical examinations and assisting the practitioner during these examinations
  • by being proficient in communication and information-sharing tools, as well as software packages or programmes specific to the role

Medical assistants carry out their duties in a doctor’s practice under the authority of a practitioner, in accordance with current procedures and regulations, within the strict limits of their scope of practice and using terminology and techniques specific to the sector.

Skills module 1 | Monitoring the patient’s healthcare journey

  • A1.1: Informing patients about examinations and treatment carried out by the practitioner
  • A1.2 Assisting patients throughout their care journey
  • A1.3 Monitoring vaccination status and screening
  • A1.4: Informing patients about preventive healthcare


Assessment:

1/ Professional role-play (oral examination) covering the entire process of an examination or treatment and the specific precautions to be taken

2/ A written multiple-choice questionnaire comprising 10 questions on different treatments or examinations that complement the professional role-play.

3/ Case study (written examination) focusing on the collection and analysis of the reason for consultation within the healthcare pathway

4/ Practical case study (written examination) focusing on:

Vaccination traceability / Periodic examinations linked to mass screening programmes (cervical smear, colorectal screening, breast cancer)

Skills module 2 | Administrative management of patients

  • A2.1: Management and monitoring of patient records
  • A2.2: Involvement in the implementation of telemedicine
  • A2.3:Patient reception and specific personalised support


Assessment:

3 professional role-play scenarios (oral examinations): using digital tools / Organising teleconsultations / Simulation of a reception scenario in a doctor’s surgery

Practical case study (written examination)

Competency Block 3 | Management of infection risk and health and safety procedures

  • A3.1: Management of disinfection, sterilisation and waste sorting operations
  • A3.2: Implementation of procedures relating to patient identification monitoring⁴ and pharmacovigilance.


Assessment:

2 practical case studies (written examinations) covering hygiene, waste management and traceability in a medical practice / literature review and role-play

Skills module 4 | Operational assistance to the practitioner

  • A4.1: Preparing and positioning patients
  • A4.2: Assisting the practitioner with treatment preparation and the performance of technical procedures
  • A4.3 Carrying out standardised screening tests
  • A4.4 Providing first aid
  • A4.5:Management of stocks of medical equipment and pharmaceutical products


Assessment:

1/ Analysis portfolio and oral interview

2/ Simulated professional scenario with an overarching scenario (oral examination)

3/ Practical case study (written examination)


  • Certificate of Professional Qualification (CQP) awarded by the CPNEFP for medical practices Level 4
  • AFGSU - Attestation de formation aux gestes et soins d'urgence - level 1

The duration of the course is indicative and will be determined according to your profile.

  • Holder of a Level 4 qualification or a baccalaureate
  • Jobseekers with no experience in the healthcare sector but holding a Level 4 qualification
  • Qualified medical secretary or, if certification is pending, one year’s professional experience as a medical secretary
  • Certified dental assistant

Successful completion of all competence modules and the Certificate in First Aid and Emergency Care (AFGSU Level I) are required to obtain the certification.

In the event of partial certification, the modules successfully completed remain valid indefinitely.

Positioning on file:

The aim of positioning is to define the skills held by candidates in order to develop personalised pathways. It is established after candidates have been selected. Applicants may be offered exemptions from training modules. Positioning involves exemptions from the training programme. The exemption exempts candidates from the training time relating to one or more training modules as well as from the corresponding validation tests.

Creation and follow-up of a patient file module and Medical vocabulary module: Exemption for holders of a medical secretarial certificate (including the UNAPL technical secretary health company option title).

Medical software module:Exemption for medical secretaries with 1 year's experience

Patient communication module: Exemption for holders of a medical secretarial qualification (including the UNAPL technical secretary qualification for healthcare companies option) + 1 year's experience as a medical secretary

Module Contaminant risk management : Exemption for holders of the title of Dental Assistant and the CQP Dental Assistant

AFGSU level 1: Exemption on presentation of the AFGSU certificate valid on the day of the examination

Stock management: Exemption for holders of the title of Dental Assistant and the CQP Dental Assistant.e dentaire et du CQP Aide dentaire
