Prepare, maintain and carry out routine repairs on cycles and electrically assisted bicycles:

- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on cycles and electrically assisted bicycles

- Obtain theoretical knowledge of the operation and handling of cycles and electrically assisted bicycles

- Master the specific digital and IT environments.

This training enables the first professional skills certificate of the "Employé technicien - vendeur en matériel de sport" vocational qualification to be validated.


The course alternates between theoretical sessions, practical exercises and assessment sessions to encourage hands-on, progressive learning.

BC01 - Carry out the preparation, maintenance and routine repairs of bicycles and electric-assist bicycles
  • Prepare bicycles and electric-assist bicycles: unpack, assemble and fit with safety accessories.
  • Sort waste; position and arrange bicycles and electric-assist bicycles on sales shelves or in the hire fleet.
  • Inspect equipment returned from hire, carry out routine maintenance on bicycles and electric-assist bicycles: clean, adjust, lubricate and replace worn parts.
  • Adjust bicycles and e-bikes to suit users’ body types
  • Carry out routine repairs to mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components.
  • Assist with the hire service at a retail outlet, demonstrating knowledge of the range of bicycles, types of cycling and the relevant adjustments.
  • Use IT resources and software to enhance professional practice and cycling knowledge.

Throughout the course, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor the learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables learners to develop their professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learners to learn in conditions that closely resemble the real working world.


  • Certificate of Professional Competence (CCP) Level 3

Total maximum duration of 322 hours, of which 70 hours in a company and 252 hours at the training centre.

    The training takes place in person at the centre, which provides the ideal setting for building group dynamics, encouraging interactive discussions between trainees and making use of professional equipment.

For this professional qualification, ongoing assessments (ECF) are organised throughout the course to evaluate the candidate’s progress and their mastery of professional skills.

The final examination takes place before a two-member examination panel comprising professionals from the sector. It comprises a professional role-play and an interview based on the professional portfolio (DP), which highlights the experience and skills developed by the candidate.

The final examination takes place within two months of the end of the training course.

The examination panel validates all or part of the Professional Qualification. In the event of partial validation, the professional competence certificates (CCP) (or competence modules) obtained are valid for a period of five years.

The candidate may subsequently complete the missing modules to obtain the Professional Qualification in its entirety.

The candidate has a period of 5 years to take the other CCP of the Employee Technician - Sports Equipment Sales Professional Qualification and thus obtain the full qualification.
