 BTS SCBH - Wood and Housing Building Systems

An essential collaborator of the company manager, the holder of the BTS SCBH is involved in the construction, extension or renovation of timber structures. On completion of the course, they will be able to:

- provide a technical and economic response to a request;
- design constructive solutions, from the specification of the need to the detailed definition, integrating all the technical, economic and environmental constraints;
- prepare and launch the production of a structure;
- manage a worksite by guaranteeing progress, quality and risk prevention;
- manage a worksite;
- supervise teams;
- collaborate with partners.

The course is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions to promote practical and progressive learning.

Modules General areas: General knowledge and communication; Modern foreign language (English); Mathematics; Physical Sciences

Throughout the course, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables learners to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learners to learn in conditions that closely resemble the real working world.

Maximum total duration of 3,550 hours, including 2,200 hours on the job and 1,350 hours at the training centre.
The duration of the course is indicative and will be determined according to your profile.

The minimum entry requirements for the course are: a level IV diploma with professional experience or a baccalaureate in technology, a general scientific baccalaureate or an industrial vocational baccalaureate.

Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Assessment tests may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.

Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.

This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.

If a candidate fails the qualification, they retain credit for the modules they have passed and may retake the remaining examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years

Mixed-gender training: Mixed-gender apprentices are apprentices who follow their training within a class made up of students with school status.

Acceptance is subject to validation by the host establishment and subject to available places.

    - detached houses;
    - collective housing;
    - buildings for sports, tertiary, industrial or agricultural use.
  • maintenance, refurbishment, renovation, heightening and extension of existing buildings;
  • framework (traditional or industrial), building envelopes and claddings;
  • technical studies, wood construction systems engineering (technical design office, etc.).
  • project management (architectural practice, etc.);
  • coordination and management of construction and renovation projects.
