Acquire the qualifications needed to implement automated processes in production units: chemicals, petrochemicals, metallurgy, agri-food...

A specialist in instrumentation and regulation systems, the Advanced Technician in Industrial Control and Automatic Regulation (CIRA) is capable of designing, installing, programming, adjusting, commissioning, optimising and maintaining a controlled installation or system.

The course is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical application and assessment sessions in order to promote practical and progressive learning.

BC01 – Collaboration in the workplace

• Analysing an industrial issue.
• Applying QHSSE procedures and preventing risks.
• Communicate in French and technical English.

BC02 – Development of a technical project

• Compare technical solutions against standards and regulations
• Extract relevant information from available documents
• Determine the performance and characteristics of a control strategy
• Communicate orally in French and in scientific and technical English

BC03 - Physico-chemical analysis of a process and its environment

• Identify the physico-chemical parameters involved in a system’s processes
• Analyse data and compare it with expected results

BC04 - Analysis of an instrumentation, control and regulation system

• Identify the relevant parameters for process control and the equipment within a system
• Understand a digital system: application, digital interface, networks
• Carry out a functional analysis of a system
• Compare technical solutions against a set of specifications
• Propose improvements to the approach, the model and the protocol
• Produce representations using a standardised format
• Compare the performance of a tuned system against the specifications

BC05 - Design of an instrumentation, control and regulation system

• Analysing malfunctions
• Proposing, designing and analysing a control strategy
• Implementing instrumentation, control and automation systems

General education modules  : French; Mathematics; Modern Foreign Language

Throughout the course, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables students to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learning in conditions that closely resemble the real-world workplace.

Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Assessment tests may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.

Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.

This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.

If a candidate fails the qualification, they retain credit for the modules they have passed and may retake the remaining examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years
