 BAC PRO Nautical Maintenance

At the end of his training, the holder of the baccalaureate will be able within a maintenance team to :

- receive a boat and/or its equipment;

- advise and guide the customer;

- handle, wedge boats, engines, equipment;

- carry out a diagnosis ;

- maintain, replace, repair, modify all or part of the components;

- fit deck fittings and equipment and ensure they are put into service;

- recondition a craft;

- return the craft and/or its equipment to the customer.

In the performance of his/her duties, he/she will be able to meet the following three requirements:

- ensure the health and safety of team members while preserving property and the environment;

- contribute to the constant improvement of customer satisfaction by integrating a progress and profitability approach into all boat maintenance activities;

- keep abreast of technical innovations, technological developments and the resulting repair methods.

He/she will also be able to communicate in technical English with an international clientele and will be able to train in new techniques in English.


The training is organised into several skill modules, allowing for step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions to promote practical and progressive learning.

BC01: Taking charge of or returning a vessel or equipment

  • Gathering the information required for taking charge of or returning the vessel or equipment
  • Communicate with the customer in French or English
  • Operate the controls of a craft or its equipment
  • Organise maintenance operations

BC02 : carrying out a diagnosis of a sub-assembly of the vessel

  • Identify the malfunction
  • Prioritise hypotheses relating to the malfunction
  • Validate the hypotheses
  • Identify faulty components or systems

BC03 : work on the vessel and its equipment

  • Prepare for the work
  • Repair systems, sub-assemblies and components
  • Carry out routine maintenance
  • Install equipment

Throughout the programme, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables learners to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learning in conditions that closely resemble the real-world workplace.

Maximum total duration of 2850 hours, including 1500 hours in a company and 1350 hours at the training centre.

Education Nationale certified teachers, Bac +3 trainers with significant experience in adult education, professional lecturers.


Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Assessment tests may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.

Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.

This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.

If a candidate fails the qualification, they retain credit for the modules they have passed and may retake the remaining examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years

These apprenticeship contract places are integrated into a class that comes under initial training (made up of pupils with school status) and are subject to enrolment at the lycée.

The training is accessible as an apprenticeship from the second year of the diploma and after at least a first year as a pupil at the school.

First training session, we do not have Quality indicators.
